The Augusta Metro Chamber works to develop and support public policy that plays a critical role in a growing and thriving business sector. This includes legislative work at the local, state, and federal levels; all of which play a role in our advocacy mission. Through its Advocacy Committee, volunteers of the Chamber meet on a monthly basis to review, debate and take action on a wide range of issues. By building relationships with elected officials, connecting elected leaders to constituents of the business community and educating members on changes to public policy that impact their business, our achievements will continue to drive an economic environment where business can succeed.
The Augusta Metro Chamber interacts extensively with local elected officials on a variety of issues that affect the overall growth and development of our community.
Each year, the Augusta Metro Chamber develops a State of Georgia Legislative Agenda that includes both proactive statements and responsive positions on matters affecting our state and the Augusta community.
Many institutions in the Augusta Region are dependent on federal appropriations including Fort Gordon and Savannah River Site. As a result, the Augusta Metro Chamber dedicates itself to advocating on behalf of these institutions to congressional and senatorial leadership to ensure their long-term viability.
The Augusta Metro Chamber holds a number of events and forums to ensure that its members have an opportunity to interact with its elected representation. These include the Pre and Post Legislative Breakfast, an annual trip to the capital in Atlanta, and an annual trip to Washington, DC.
