SPLOST VII Position Statement

As Adopted September 22, 2015

“The Augusta Metro Chamber believes that the assessment of special local option sales tax is an efficient and economical way to fund many needs in the county while keeping property taxes as low as possible.  Estimates indicate that between 45% and 54% of sales tax revenues originate from the spending of outside visitors which even further spreads the cost of projects and improvements beyond its citizens.
The Chamber also recognizes its leadership role in the community as an advocate and educator on the value of SPLOST and is therefore endorsing the November 3rd, 2015 Augusta Richmond County SPLOST VII Referendum.”
