Fort Eisenhower

Fort Eisenhower is a Combat Cyber Power Projection Platform in support of our nations Combatant Commanders.  As the largest employer in the CSRA, Fort Eisenhower has seen increasing numbers of new military, civilian and contractor employees arrive annually with 32,000 people working on post.  These employees bring 82,000 family members and retirees which include an estimated 3700 military dependents in public schools.  86% of this population resides off-installation.

More than 80 major construction and renovation projects worth nearly $2 billion is projected over the next decade.  Fort Eisenhower is one of only two Army installations that was not cut during the Army’s drawdown, and in fact has grown by over 4300 personnel this past year.  The estimated regional economic impact is over $7.5 billion.

As the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence, Fort Eisenhower operates the military's largest communications and cybersecurity training centers.  As of FY23, 17,528 soldiers have been trained in 24 different occupational skills.

Within the last three years, both Columbia and Richmond Counties received about $4M in Federal Aid, which is funding provided by the Department of Education to compensate for federal employees who do not pay property or GA state taxes because they live in government housing or out-of-state residents.

About 800-1200 service members separate from the military at Fort Eisenhower each year.  The Fort Eisenhower Retirement Services area of responsibility supports over 60,000 military retirees and family members.  These are primarily highly skilled information technology or medical professionals.  Surveys show about half plan to or would like to remain in the Augusta area.
