Augusta Metro Chamber to Host Pre-Session Legislative Breakfast, October 24

Posted By: Kathryn Freemon News Releases,

The Augusta Metro Chamber will host a Pre-Session Legislative Breakfast on Tuesday, October 24 at First Baptist Church of Augusta featuring keynote speaker Cosby Johnson, Mayor of Brunswick, Georgia and VP of Government Affairs for the Georgia Chamber. The breakfast will also feature a Q&A panel with members of the Augusta Delegation.

On January 5th, 2022, Brunswick Native Cosby H. Johnson was sworn in as the second African American to hold to title of Mayor in the City of Brunswick. Mayor Johnson comes from a family of public servants, raised by an educator and veteran who instilled in him the importance of serving your community. An amiable change-agent who ran under the platform of "Building a Better Brunswick." Johnson strives to represent the voice of the people and is passionate about being a good steward.

Mayor Johnson is a proud Brunswick High School Pirate and graduated from Valdosta State University before beginning a career in government. He serves as Vice President for Government Affairs with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and was influential in lobbying the Georgia Legislature to pass a hate crimes bill and repeal the state's citizen's arrest law. Government accountability, transparency, education, and economic development are his top priorities.

The Chamber looks forward to hosting our Augusta Delegation members at this year’s breakfast as we say "Thank You" for all their hard-work and dedication to serving the CSRA: Delegation Chairman Brian Prince, Senators Harold Jones, Lee Anderson and Max Burns, and Representatives Lynn Gladney, Rob Leverett, Gloria Frazier, Mark Newton, Karlton Howard, Jodi Lott and Barry Flemming.

The Pre-Session Legislative Breakfast begins at 7:30 am and is free for members to attend. Advanced registration is required at AugustaMetroChamber.com. Registration deadline is Friday, October 20. Contributions for this breakfast were made by Georgia Power.
