Georgia Trend's 2017 40 Under 40 Has Been Announced

Date postedOctober 2, 2017
in News Releases,

Georgia Trend magazine’s 2017 40 Under 40 has been announced and three local candidates made the list. The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce offers our sincere congratulations to Dr. Bhagelu Achyut, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Augusta University, Kaden Jacobs, Director of Communications for the Richmond County School System, and Christina Purkapile, Cyber Account Lead, with Booz Allen Hamilton.

Dr. Bhagelu Achyut was nominated for Georgia Trend’s 40 Under 40 by the Augusta Metro Chamber after receiving their distinguished Top 10 in 10 Young Professionals to Watch award in June. After a competitive nomination process, Dr. Achyut was honored by the Chamber, in partnership with Augusta Magazine, as one of 10 rising business professionals who emerged as this year’s most promising young talent to watch over the next 10 years.

Originally from India, Bhagelu Achyut came to the U.S. in 2009 for post-doctorate work and now conducts cancer research at Augusta University. He is currently seeking funding for a research lab focused on preclinical modeling of malignant brain and breast cancers.

Kaden Jacobs, a Navy veteran, has been with the Richmond County School System since 2015 and is a previous recipient of the Chamber’s Top 10 in 10 Young Professionals to Watch award. Recently accepted into Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Harvard Institute for Superintendents and District Leaders, Jacobs has a real passion for education.

Christina Purkapile represents Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH). A U.S. Army veteran, Purkapile began working for BAH in analytics ten years ago. During that time, she earned her master’s degree in counterterrorism and terrorism studies with an emphasis in cybersecurity and extremist organizations.

Georgia Trend honors the state’s best and brightest in business, government, politics, nonprofits, science, healthcare and education. The Chamber is proud of this year’s 40 Under 40 selections representing our region. To see the full list of Georgia Trend’s 2017 40 Under 40, visit georgiatrend.com.
