All About the Mission - November 15

Posted By: Sue Parr, IOM, GCCE All About the Mission,

Parents with children in the Richmond County School District have until January 6th to enroll their students in a vast array of school choice options.  While many parents are familiar with the highly acclaimed magnet schools in the district including AR Johnson, CT Walker, Davidson and RCTCM, other specialized programs are abundant in the district at 12 different schools including 7 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and 3 high schools.

Popular among the programs are the well-known International Baccalaureate studies.  At all levels of grades, students enrolled in the IB programs at Richmond County Schools receive a challenging framework of academics which connect the areas of language arts, humanities, mathematics, science, world language, technology, arts and physical education through six global contexts.   Elementary schools offering an IB program include Copeland, Hephzibah and Lake Forest Hills.  Other elementary schools that offer specialized programs including STEM, STEAM and Arts Infusion include Hains, Garrett, Goshen and Warren Road.  High school and middle schools that offer an IB Program include Academy of Richmond County, Hephzibah Middle and Hephzibah High School and Langford.  Additionally, students interested in an accelerated platform of advanced placement learning can find AP academies at both Laney High School and Westside High School.

If your business is interested in offering a session for your employees to learn more about the abundant choice options for their children, please contact Jasmine Sims, Associate Vice President for Workforce Solutions at the chamber and we will be happy to arrange a more in-depth briefing at your work site.  There are so many opportunities for students in the Richmond County School District to be challenged and excel academically.  You can contact Jazz at jasmine.sims@augustametrochamber.com
