Busy Agenda for Chamber's First Board Meeting of 2024

For its first board meeting of the year, Chamber board members had a busy agenda including an update from Mayor Garnett Johnson who commented on the upcoming voter referendum granting the mayor of Augusta an equal vote on the Commission, progress thus far in hiring a permanent administrator for the city and recent discussions on the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam.

Board members also heard an update from executive board member Dr. Brooks Keel on recent announcements for dental and medical education expansions in the state.  Additional presentations included a workforce initiative update from Dr. Judi Wilson, Chair of the Chamber's Business Education Advisory Council and a Leadership Augusta update from Mickey Williford, Chair for Leadership Augusta.  Ft. Eisenhower Garrison Commander COL Reggie Evans also shared information about the recent successful send off of over 3,000 service members for holiday leave.
