Join ‘The Power of Progress’ at Chamber Annual Meeting, presented by Georgia Power
The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Paul Bowers, President & CEO, Georgia Power Company, as the keynote speaker for their 111th Annual Meeting. The dinner event, presented by Georgia Power, will be held on Thursday, February 21 in the Oglethorpe Ballroom at Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center. Doors open at 6pm with the program beginning at 6:30pm and will include the traditional passing of the Chairman’s gavel; recognition of Chamber volunteers; review of 2018 accomplishments and mapping out the road ahead in 2019 with new initiatives and ongoing advocacy and programs.
Paul Bowers was named chairman, president and chief executive officer of Georgia Power, effective 2011. The company is the largest subsidiary of Southern Company, one of the nation’s leading energy providers. Paul joined the Southern Company system at Gulf Power in 1979 and has held executive leadership positions at multiple subsidiaries. Prior to his current position, he was chief financial officer of Southern Company, where he was rated by Institutional Investors magazine as one of the industry’s Top Three CFOs in America.
For his professional achievements and his commitment to the well-being of the citizens of Georgia, Paul received the American Jewish Committee’s National Human Relations Award and the Council for Quality Growth’s Four Pillar Award, and has been inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame. In 2018, Paul was inducted as a Georgia Trustee by the governor of Georgia for exemplifying the highest standard of “Not for Self, but for Others“ in his life and career. Most recently, he was included in Georgia Trend’s listing of the 100 Most Influential Georgians in 2019.
